Don’t Follow Your Heart *GASP!*
When I give a presentation on Go With Your Gut, I always start with the Heart and say, “Number one, do not follow your Heart.”
I always get people looking at me as if I’m a nut.
Think about it though, how many times during the day do you feel optimistic, happy, worried, frustrated, mad, sad, sentimental, compassionate or depressed?
In my book, Go With Your Gut, I say we can feel good about our life or bad about our life about 8 times a day and that is all emotional. So, what is your Heart representing? Your emotions. And, you want to trust any decision, minor or critical on the roller coaster of your Heart?
I think not.
Following your Heart sounds romantic but, even in love it’s not a good idea. (BTW, every decision, no matter how minor, has a domino effect in your life, don’t be fooled by a minor decision – more on that next time)
Trust your Gut instinct and nudging – your Heart will follow along, happily, I promise.
Your Turn:
What are some decisions you have had to make where you chose between your gut and your heart? How did things work out?
I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
